DANCE HALL

Not wearing any clothes with skulls is a principle of mine, but I might break it because of this fantastic image, which is printed on a T from British label AllSaints.
I like the idea of hiding the scary (or human?) in the prettiness of dresses and ties.
Found on Asos.com.

BEACH AND BONFIRE

Last night at the beach was fun. We really walk it all out with bonfire and marshmallows! The moon was a real sight - full and orange. As I walked down the road with my friend C on our way home, I thought, that this is how summer should be - warm at the bonfire with the moon winking above and the sound of the sea.

Join the summer feeling! xx Amanda.

EYEING AN OBJECT OR TWO

It's never to soon to begin collecting design, and I would really like to own the Louis Ghost-chair from Kartell (design: Philippe Starck), and the classic AJ Bord-lamp from Louis Poulsen (designed by Arne Jacobsen). I like the baroque figure of the chair combined with the spacey fact of transparent material. The industrial look of the lamp in that warm red colour is great too.
The great thing about furniture is, that they last longer than clothing. If you buy the good stuff, of course (;

LISTOMANIA

I'm ill, and must stay at home. So while I'm sitting here with the radio playing I'm making lists. They are not in any particular order, because I can't decide which is most important.

Places I want to go right now:
  • Paris - because I'm in desperate need of decadence and beautiful views.
  • London - because I can't get enough and want to make a call from one of the telephone boxes.
  • Tokyo - because it should be a hold other world. Magical.
  • Some place lonely with no notion of time - because I hate my calender.
  • Waterstone's Bookshop, 203/206 Piccadilly, London - because of my love of books and the size of this 5-storey bookshop.
A lonely place

Favourite CDs this second:
  • The Last Shadow Puppets - "The Age Of The Understatement".
  • Ghost Society - "The Back Of His Hands, Then The Palms".
  • Kings Of Convenience - "Declaration of Dependence".
  • Bon Iver - "For Emma, Forever Ago".
  • The XX - "XX"

Favourite magazines:
  • COVER - I'm a dedicated fan.
  • Vogue British - because It's younger than the American (and Anna W.)
  • GAFFA - because I love music and the fact that it's free.

Favourite food:
  • Cherries.
  • Yoghurt with berries and muesli - I could eat breakfast at every meal.
  • Aubergine and chevré sandwich.
  • Croissants - a reminder of the Paris-atmosphere.

Favourite films:
  • The Duchess - especially because of the blue dress with matching hat Georgina (Keira Knightley) is wearing under Mr. Fox' election contest.
  • Italian Job - I've always loved to watch the shiny Minis get crashed.
  • Top Gun - American hero on mission. Nice.
  • Amélie - Paris in vibrant red/green colours.

You may think that I got listomania, in which case you also might be right.
So long! xo Amanda.

BLACK EYE, WHITE T-SHIRT

Last night was great. Nice with some variation from the exams.
I don't even think I said goodbye to anyone, but who cares about manners in the dark?
I had to go to work very early, and was of course late. When I was getting dressed, I hit my cheekbone on my chest of drawers, so now I got a black eye! Jesus, I look really retarded.

C, who is my soon-travelling friend, is going to Australia in three weeks. She's going to live in Perth (just by the ocean), and go to a uniformed girls school. She will be missed.

I gave her a little present which consisted of an A.O t-shirt and a Korres lipbalm. I bought an A.O myself last week, and it's really just good - soft and simple. It's also ecological and made in Sweden.

Have a nice lazy Sunday!

A SHADE OF MY PAST AS A MANIAC

Nail varnish. What an unimportant, stupid thing to own. More the less, I got 22. 9 kind of reds, 3 kinds of purple, 1 black (with tinsel), 3 beige, 2 pink, 2 transparent, 1 white and 1 blue. Most of them are bought or been given to me under that nail varnish-frenzy a couple of years ago. I went mad, my cousin went mad and even my mother bought a Chanel, in the colour Madness (a name that fits).

Chanel was the label everybody preferred, and most people seem to stick with it for unidentified reasons. Nail varnish from Chanel isn't good. Just a horrible dose label porn and bad cosmetic.
Then American Essie came around, and I bought a pretty warm pink in Berlin. Well I must admit that I admire all of the creative names Essie is coming up with. Mine is called Bachelorette Bash.
I even bought a Dior once. I totally fell for the name, Indian Saffron, but it looks horrible on.

I don't even know what the point is with this post, but I can say this: Don't buy the expensive nail varnish - those cheap ones from H&M is much better.

Now I'm going to do my English (exam this Tuesday), and then put some varnish on and go to my friend's go away-party. Does white go with jade green?

AS A FAN, I STEAL

Rumi in a rare soft moment

As many, I'm a dedicated fan of Rumi Neely and especially her blog "Fashion Toast". She got a very fierce style (and I most admit - it too much for me to handle), which is appreciated by fashion-lovers all over the world. But she also got this talent of catching feelings and atmosphere in her photos, and that's why I'm so hopelessly addicted to F.T.

Rumi is also a model - and now also a designer! She has made two pieces (a dress and a tank) with RVCA, which pretty much is her style reduced to fabric. I would like the dress (in white) for summer. Maybe softened with some amber.

THE LAST TIME I WHISPERED IN YOUR EAR

The feeling of summer is intoxicating. The humming in my head is like being drunk - just without the whole confusion-thing. I am happy because of the sun and the scent of lilacs and new-mown grass, and that makes me think that everything is only good. It's very childish, but also very nice.

My soundtrack on this sunny day has been:

*Kirsten & Marie - "My Dear"
*Two Door Cinema Club - "Something Good Can Work"
*One Night Only - "You And Me"

*Figurines - "Lucky To Love"

Everything is so fresh and new in so many ways. I don't feel the grey mood from just a month ago any more. Long live vitamin D!
